Incessant rains leave several localities inundated, cause losses | | | Arun Trisal Early Times Report
HIRANAGAR, July 10: The heavy downpour turned several government offices, residential buildings and business establishments in far flung areas of Hiranagar tehsil into ponds as rain water entered the premises of the properties and got logged there. The rain water entered into shops and residential buildings besides SDM office, ZEPO offfice, many schools wherein it spoiled official record and caused huge losses. All this occurred due to negligence of Municipal Committee Hiranagar that failed to cleanse canal flowing within the town. The Municipal Committee Hiranagar did not take precautions prior to rainy season and failed to clear filth of canal whose water was overflowed and entered into the offices and residential areas. Important official records were damaged in negligence wherein people demanded compensation for their losses besides action against languid officers of MC Hiranagar. ZEPO Hiranagar, Devinder Kumar said with the impact of over flooded water a wall collapsed and rain water entered into office causing damage to computers, official records, furniture and other necessity items. He said the office has informed SDM and CEO Kathua for the losses and employees are trying to clear the rain water. Deep Kumar and Kamal Kant said rain water entered into shops and flour mill which caused huge losses. When contacted Tehildhar Hiranagar, Jitendra Mishra, said that he constituted a team immediately to review the losses which found that agricultural land is also affected due to thundershowers. He said his team is preparing the estimate for compensation and due relief will be extended to the affected people within days. He admitted negligence of MC Hiranagar and assured that he will pass necessary instructions to Executive Officer to clear the blockages timely. |
