Challenger enters finals of Summer Cup 7/10/2015 11:21:51 PM Early Times Report AKHNOOR, July 10: Challenger Cricket Club today entered the final of the Summer Cup Twenty20 Tournament being held under the banner of Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor at Government Higher Secondary School, here. In today's first semifinal, Challenger clinched the thriller after they defeated KC Sports Club (KCSC) by one wicket that too in the last deliveries of the final 20th over. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, KCSC set a target of 161 runs for nine wickets. Suryansh remained top scorer with 25-ball 37 runs while Pranav contributed 36 runs coming off 21 deliveries. Ankush (32 off 17 balls) and Aateev (21 off 16 balls) were other main contributors to the total. From Challenger, Manik bowled brilliant spell taking away most of the seven wickets for 19 runs in four overs. Vimarsh Kaw bagged one wicket. Later, chasing a target of over eight-run per over, Challenger snatched the win achieving the goal in last over losing nine wickets. Vijay Dogra played brilliant innings of 33 runs coming off just 16 deliveries hitting three towering sixes. Ashu played steady innings of 47 runs facing 43 deliveries thereby kept the one end intact. Young Somay Jain contributed nine-ball 13 runs to the total. From KCSC, Ankush clinched four wickets while Vivek took two. Pranav, RD and Shubrat shared apiece each. For his match winning innings of seven wickets, Manik was adjudged man of the match. Vikas Bali and Rajinder Sharma were umpires in today's semifinal. Lucky Mehta and Dayal Singh were scorers. This tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, president Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
