Jammu region faces unabated discrimination in Power sector: JKNPP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 10: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Chairman and former Minister Harsh Dev Singh today lambasted the state government for the unprecedented power cuts being affected in Jammu region, especially in the hinterland and far-flung areas during the ongoing summer season which had caused tremendous hardships and inconvenience to the common man. Flaying the callous and insensitive attitude of the Power Development Department, Mr Singh in a statement issued here said the people of Jammu region are made to suffer the worst nightmares due to scorching heat and soaring humidity with no respite from scheduled and unscheduled power cuts. The students are the worst sufferers, particularly those preparing for various examinations, he said and regretted that despite persistent appeals to the government to adhere to scheduled calendar on power supply and the repeated assurances of the government, no action has been taken thus adding to the woes and miseries of common man. Jammu region has been the major sufferer with the government and its Ministers being mute spectators in the face of a critical and crisis like situation, he maintained. He said the ground situation was highly pathetic with power scenario having deteriorated further during the last few days. Lambasting the government for its highly parochial and biased approach, Mr Singh pointed towards the most obnoxious aspects of power distribution within the state. However, accusing the BJP for selling dreams to the people, he warned the Saffron Leaders not to take people of Jammu for granted. With people's despair already having translated into anger, any further pusillanimity on BJPs part would countenance stiff public reaction, the warned. |
