Jammu, July 10: Underlining the need for an AIIMS-like institute in Jammu province, chairman of AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) and president of JKHCBA, Jammu, Abhinav Sharma, today said categorically asked BJP to fulfill its promise about AIIMS in Jammu or face the music. He said the region is devoid of any modern and well-equipped medical institute and that the people of the region have to go to Delhi, Chandigarh and other states of the country for medical treatment and this calls for the demands of a premier health institute which has been an illusion till today. Abhinav Sharma said this while addressing a meeting of civil society members at Lower Gumat Bazar, here today which was jointly organized by All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association president, Inderjeet Khajuria, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Foundation, organizing secretary, Sawarn Singh Chib and Naamdhaari Sangat, J&K, secretary general, Sardaar Avtaar Singh, constituents of the ACC. "Our elected representatives failed the people of Jammu region and that is the reason that all the civil society groups in Jammu had to come on one non-political platform to launch a movement for the establishment of AIIMS in Jammu, Abhinav Sharma said and added that it was a matter of great satisfaction that people cutting across party lines and religious considerations have joined the movement. Taking a dig upon Jammu leadership, Abhinav Sharma said the people of Kashmir are fortunate because their leadership takes care of their concerns and needs and ensure that Kashmir gets prestigious institutions while the people of Jammu region always have to agitate in such situations. Sharma warned the authorities (BJP) that things would go out of hand in case they continue to adopt step-motherly attitude towards the people of Jammu province and hoped that they would act before it was too late. Retd Sessions Judge and JPPF president, Pavitar Singh, K B Jandial (Retd IAS), Dr C L Gupta, president Shri Amar Kashtriya Rajput Sabha, Narain Singh, vice- president CCI, Jammu, Deepak Aggarwal, vice-president Lower Hari Market Association, Dheeraj Pargaal, president Dalit Chetna Manch, Sham Lal Basson also addressed this meeting. |
