Amarnath yatris crave for basic facilities, officials unmoved | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 10: The tall claims of the government and the Amarnath Shrine Board stand exposed as the pilgrims are craving for basic facilities. Thousands of yatris who reach Jammu from different parts of country face problems as the administration has failed to provide washrooms, accommodation and proper guidance. The yatries have to stay at Maharaja Hari Singh Park near Samadhian Road for registration. "There are no basic facilities for the yatries', a group of pilgrims from Rajasthan told Early Times. They added that the women had to wash clothes and cook food in muddy water as the administration did not provide accommodation. Criticizing the callous attitude of state government, they alleged that pilgrims are forced to defecate and bathe in open. Other group of Yatris also said that huge rush at registration counters coupled with the pace of work has been a cause of concern. Due to the chaos and confusion at registration counters the yatris are totally dismayed with the role of the concerned administration and SASB is claiming to have made elaborate arrangements for yatris. |
