Dy CM has only option to resign: Dr Manohar Lal | Unable to keep his commitment on AIIMS | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 22: Terming the PDP-BJP coalition a failure, former Minister of State for Finance and Cooperatives and senior Congress leader Manohar Lal Sharma today demanded resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh on moral grounds. Sharma alleged that Dr Nirmal Singh has failed to fulfil his written commitment with AIIMS Coordination Committee over establishment of AIIMS in Jammu region. While taking a jibe at Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, former Minister Sharma said, "By reaching a written agreement with the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) over establishment of the AIIMS in Jammu region before or by July 20 and then failing to fulfill the same, Nirmal Singh has authenticated that he is politically immature and further he has no say in his party both at state as central level even being holding the portfolio of Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir state." Senior Congress leader further said that in the days to come, people will have no faith over the written assurances of the politicians be it in any party and the "Nirmal Singh Episode" will be taken as a reference to describe the politicians in general. "Who will trust politicians and their assurances in the days to come? It has never happened in the history of the State as well as the Country that any politician from any Political Party first gives a written assurance to call off a strike and then go against his/her words", Sharma highlighted. He appealed the people of Jammu region to get united against the nefarious designs of BJP and fight for the cause of Jammu region. "Once upon a time BJP used to claim that it is the only party which champions and fight for the cause of Jammu and now after assuming the power here in the state what went wrong in BJP that virtually betrayed the people of Jammu region who voted the said party to power," he said. |
