PDP leader's son thrashes senior officer in Ganderbal | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 22: Son of a senior PDP leader and former minister today manhandled a top official of the Labour Department in Ganderbal district of Kashmir. Qazi Ayaz, son of veteran PDP leader and former Forest Minister Qazi Mohammad Afzal, abused and thrashed Assistant Commissioner Labour, Gulzar Ahmad Khan in his office chamber, official sources told Early Times. They said Ayaz allegedly thrashed the officer and pushed him against a wall, injuring him and damaging his cell phone. Confirming the incident, the Assistant Commissioner said, "Ayaz had come to my office seeking information about a scholarship scheme." He said he told Ayaz that the department was running short of funds and that he would be informed once government releases funds under the scheme. "But he asked me to show the list of beneficiaries of the scheme. I urged him to come later in the day as my computer operator was busy in preparing a list for my higher officials," the Assistant Commissioner said. He said his reply infuriated Ayaz who "started abusing me and thrashed me." The Assistant Commissioner also accused Ayaz of pushing him against the wall and smashing his cell phone. The matter was brought into the notice of Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Showkat Aijaz who reportedly took cognizance of the incident. Meanwhile, sources that police has registered a case (FIR no.153/15) under sections 353, 427 against the PDP leader's son. Neither Ayaz nor his father was available for comment. |
