Kishtwar observes bandh | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, July 25: In protest against the burning of ISIS flag, which people said carried religious verses, by some miscreants a few days back at Rajouri and the arrest of seven local youth for raising anti-national and pro-Pakistan slogans on Eid day, a peaceful bandh was observed here today. The call for bandh was given by Imam of Jamia Masjid, Kishtwar, Farooq Ahmed Kichloo against the Rajouri incident and the arrest of seven youth, including a government school teacher, for raising anti-national and pro-Pak slogans after Eid procession on last Saturday. All the business establishments belonging to some people observed a shutdown followed by a protest at the bus stand here. While addressing the gathering, Kichloo condemned the Rajouri incident but distanced himself from ISIS, saying they had ideological differences with ISIS. He claimed that the seven youth, who were arrested for raising anti-national slogans on Eid day, were innocent and demanded for their immediate release. The people later dispersed peacefully. A shutdown was also said to have been observed by some people in Doda and Bhaderwah towns. |
