Who empowered Yudhvir Sethi to issue orders to Govt officials? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 25: He has no constitutional authority to issue instructions to government officials, but that does not prevent the 'high profile' BJP leader and husband of a minister in the PDP-BJP coalition, Yudhvir Sethi, from calling the shots in different departments. Sethi, whose wife Priya Sethi is a Minister of State (MoS) for School Education, is these days behaving as if he is holding an office of authority. He keeps on monitoring several ongoing developmental works in the city and gives directions of different nature to the officials. Sethi today issued a statement in which he said he had visited Raj Tilak road, Sabzi Mandi and adjoining areas in the old city which were damaged due to incessant rains and issued directions to the Municipal department to immediately restore lanes, drains and other infrastructure. When Early Times contacted Soujayana Sharma, Jammu Municipal (JMC) Commissioner, he passed the buck to lower staff and said that they might have reached the spot at their own. He could not give a convincing reply when asked how his staff accompanied a political leader without any official order. Pertinently, this is not the first instance when government officials of various departments accompanied Sethi at various places and he later issued statements wherein he directed various officials for development work. MoS Priya Sethi did not return calls from Early Times for her comment. |
