ReTs up in arms against govt, threaten agitation | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Kishtwar August 2: Rehebar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers today held a strong protest against Education Minister Nayeem Akther for his alleged statements against them. As per the details available with "Early Times" the ReTs after holding meeting at Chowghan ground Kishtwar, blocked the main road outside Dak Banglow Kishtwar. The participants showed a great resentment over the alleged objectionable statements issued by Education Minister against them, added that the statements of minister are intolerable. They warned to go on pen down strike and close the schools, beside will come on roads with their families and wards. They said that all the ReT's have been purely appointed on merit basis but the minister was unnecessarily issuing statements against them. "ReT's played key role in opening the schools which were closed and burnt during the top milltancy time in the rural areas--- that too merely on honorarium of Rs1500" they said and expressed concern over the goverment proposal to screen and test those ReTs who have worked hard for the sake of education of thousands of students of rural areas of the state. ReTs would go to any extent to save their dignity, said Ajaiz Malik. Later, they also meet MoS Revenue, R&B Sunil Kumar Sharma at Dak Banglow Kishtwar and apprised him about the anger and concern of ReTs. They said that in case the government did not respond to their demand, they will give a call for secretariat march. The minister assured them that he will take up the matter with concern authorities. Various ReT associations of Kishtwar and Doda have decided to fight unitedly on one plate form for their demands. |
