Angry High command mulls setting up central team to hold talks with CC | AIIMS agitation exposes BJP leaders | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 2: The ongoing agitation for AIIMS in Jammu region has exposed the BJP leaders and ministers as all their tall claims about them nurturing Jammu as their constituency have fallen flat. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "People of Jammu getting united for a common cause has proved that BJP leaders didn't win the elections due to their efforts and credibility. They won because people were fed up of Congress and its anti-Jammu policies." He said most BJP leaders who won the 2014 assembly polls were "non-entities" but they rode on the Modi wave to turn the tide around and won 25 out of 37 seats in the Jammu region. "Soon after the BJP won people of the Jammu assumed that their difficult days are over as their representatives have made it to the assembly. All of us were of the opinion that they (BJP leaders) would become the voice of people and would ensure that issues related to Jammu are addressed," the analyst added. He alleged that soon after assuming power the BJP leaders forgot their promises and started avoiding the people who voted for them. "Since the day BJP has become a part of the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir its ministers have been reaping the fruits of power and seem least bothered about the issues confronting the common people," the analyst said. "To get an AIIMS sanctioned for Jammu region was the first litmus test of the BJP leaders and ministers but they have failed miserably in this test. The way they have handled the issue has proved that they are an incompetent lot and lack the acumen and will to be the leaders of the masses," he added. An expert said that BJP leaders messing up the AIIMS issue and trying to crush the people's movement in Jammu has proved that they are no better than their predecessors. "It's unfortunate that peaceful protesters are being arrested and beaten and all the efforts are being put to divide the Coordination Committee, spearheading the movement for the full-fledged AIIMS for the region." Insiders within the BJP revealed that a few ministers and leaders are of the opinion that Coordination Committee has become a "nuisance" and if its leaders are not tackled it can spell doom for the party. "The Union Health Minister J P Nadda making an ambiguous announcement about setting up half AIIMS in Jammu was a part of the conspiracy to create confusion in the Jammu region and a ploy to divide the Coordination Committee," the insiders added. They said a few BJP leaders who had provided wrong feedback to the party high command have been left red faced. "The party high command has realized that these ministers and leaders have no standing among the masses. Had they been the true leaders they would have sat with the Coordination Committee members, who are no strangers, and made them understand the dynamics of the situation. They failed to take CC members into confidence just to ensure that their ego is not hurt," the insiders claimed. They said that central BJP leadership has taken a serious note of the failure of BJP ministers and is mulling to set up a central team which would hold the negotiations with the AIIMS CC members to reach on a conclusion. |
