JKNPP holds rally, burns effigies | | | Early Times Report
jAMMU, Aug 2: Hundreds of Panthers party activists assembled outside the Party headquarters and marched towards Main Stop Gandhi Nagar where they were restrained from proceeding further by a heavy police contingent. After a brief scuffle with the police cops they held a massive protest demonstration at Main Stop Chowk against the BJP. Spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and Yashpal Kundal State President Young Panthers, the protesters also torched effigy of "26 headed BJP monster" symbolizing the BJP clan with equal number of MLA's. Coming down heavily at the Government's coercive posturing to cripple the AIIMS agitation, Harsh Dev Singh condemned the administration for its repression, coercion, manhandling, for putting barbed wired barricades on the roads and forcefully restraining the JKNPP's peaceful rally at the behest of BJP. Meanwhile, In Udhampur, over one thousand Panthers party activists undeterred by the repressive measures took out an appeal rally, spearheaded by the JKNPP State President Balwant Singh Mankotia along with several other leaders in Udhampur here today. The huge rally started from Salathia Chowk and after passing through several lanes and markets was stopped by the police in the middle of the Dhar Road National Highway. While breaking the barricades put on the roads by the administration on behest of the BJP partnered government to scuttle the AIIMS agitation, the protestors scuffled with the police cops resulting in the damage of few vehicles. |
