Early Times Report Kishtwar, Aug 4: The Kishtwar police have launched a crusade against unauthorised drivers and vehicles in Kishtwar. People have come up with complaints of rude behaviour by the police and the traffic policemen while checking vehicles. Reports said the number of challans that have been filed during the last month speak volumes about the highhandedness of the police. As per Touseef Ahmed who was today challaned for driving a Scooty without helmet outside SP Office Kishtwar said that even though he was not wearing a helmet, but the rude behavior of the police cannot be justified by any means. He said that after consulting his counsel, he had decided to contest the case in a court of law. When "Early Times" inquired from the erring police constable, he said , "Go wherever you want to go--- don't click my photograph--- go and call the SP or DIG or IG or even to DG--- I don't bother." Inspector General of Police Traffic Jammu range Ashkoor Ahmed Wani said that police constable is not allowed under law to challan a vehicle and assured that he will look into the matter. |
