Blue-eyed cops' attachment orders cancelled | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 4: As police headquarters (PHQ) has started cancelling the attachment orders of all blue-eyed cops and other junior ranks up to the level of Sub-Inspectors (SIs), it would now not be possible for all such police personnel to shirk work by managing their attachments in different wings and with senior officers. According to police sources, dozens of attachments have been cancelled by PHQ in the past at least 10 days by issuing nearly half a dozen orders in this regard. In the order Nos 2196, 2197, 2199 and 2225, several police personnel stand transferred to their parent wings. "All of them were either attached in the wings of their choice or with senior police officers for the past many years," sources informed. The initiative in this regard was taken by DGP K Rajendra to streamline the police department functioning which was badly affected by the attachment culture. Some senior officers have got cops of their choice attached with them for doing their personal works. "The attachment orders of many of them have been cancelled and they have been sent to their parent wings," sources said. While they were attached in one wing, they had been drawing their salaries from the other wing. PHQ scrutinised the whole official record and found that hundreds of police personnel were attached in one wing or the other without any valid reason for the past many years. An inventory was then prepared and orders were issued to cancel their attachments and send them to their parent wings, the sources added. "Instructions have also been issued by PHQ to take departmental action against those who refuse to go back to their parent wings. A senior police officer has been tasked to implement the PHQ orders," sources said.
