Govt will boost religious tourism on priority, says Veeri | | | Early Times Report anantnag, Aug 4: Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri on Tuesday inaugurated Interpretation cum Library centre at the shrine of Hazratbal Khiram in Bijbehara area of this southern district. Director Tourism Kashmir Farooq Ahmad Shah, District Development Commissioner Anantnag Bashir Ahmad Khan and several officers accompanied the minister. Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Interpretation Center, the Minister said that up gradation of infrastructure at pilgrim sites was the priority of the government to boost pilgrimage tourism. "We have enough temples, shrines and other religious site which are altercating tourists all over the country so a special attention is being given to them and infrastructure is being enhanced under a comprehensive plan," A R veeri said. He said that tourism is interlinked with promotion of other potential sectors like Horticulture, Handicrafts and Handlooms besides adventure, pilgrim and border tourism. "it is the responsibility of all of us to bring complete peace and normalcy in the State for providing congenial atmosphere for not only tourism boom but other trade and commerce activities in the State." he added. During the tour Minister took stock of people's problems and developmental needs. He also inspected several ongoing projects in the area and directed concerned executing agencies for their time bound completion. He also instructed the concerned Officers to formulate action plans covering each area of the Constituency well in time for their implementation. He said a foot bridge would be also constructed over the Nalla at the shrine. He said steps would be also taken to bring shrine of Hazratbal Khiram on tourism map. Pertinently the construction work of Interpretation center completed at a cost of Rs 88 lakh, was the part of Rs 3.79 crore project sanctioned by the Centre for development of shrine of Hazratbal Khiram during NC-Congress regime. Under the project Rs 1.55 crore is also being spent for construction of dormitory and Rs 62.91 lakh for canalizing of Nahalla besides Rs 73 lakh on construction of sanitation points and other allied works at the shrine. |
