Clearance of landslides debris may take few more day: SDM Bhaderwah

Bhaderwah, Aug 4: People in Bhaderwah-Doda are facing inconvenience as the area is still cut-off from the rest of the state after Bhaderwah-Doda road remained closed for third consecutive day due to continuous landslides near Sanai locality.
Due to closure of the road, the people residing in various areas of tehsil Bhaderwah are facing lot problems like shortage of ration, kerosene oil, medical facilities and others.
However, men and machinery of GREF are on job to remove the landslides, but due to continuous landslides and shooting stones they are facing problems to make the road go through.
After making a visit to land slide prone area, SDM Bhaderwah Mohd Anwar Banday said, "We have placed a seven machines at the landslide site at Sanai area on Doda Bhaderwah road, which are on job to clear debris round the clock as we also want to make road clear for traffic at the earliest." "We had to suspend the work today due to very heavy landslide and shooting stone, he said and added, "administration and concerned authorities viz. GREF are trying best to clear the debris as early as possible. SDM Bhaderwah however added that there are no passengers stranded as they are crossing the caved in stretch from either side by foot to take another vehicle from the other side near Seri village. He also informed that for the convenience of the passengers administration assisted by DFO and BDO Bhaderwah are going to construct a temporary bridge on the river Neeru where from passengers will cross the damaged stretch till road was not be restored.
Pertinent to mention that sudden closure of the road has forced thousands of passengers including tourists and pilgrims to halt at several places on the from Doda to Bhaderwah and has also put them to face tremendous hardships while the people in Bhaderwah also are decrying about acute shortage of goods and petrol pumps are also closed Meanwhile, Member of the Legislative Council, Bhaderwah, Naresh Gupta also inspected the site and asked the authorities to speed up the work.
