SSH Jammu goes to dogs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 4: Started amid much fanfare, the Super Speciality Hospital (SSH) Jammu mocks at the claims of government about providing quality healthcare in super speciality hospitals across the state. For instance, the SSH Jammu doesn't even have water coolers for patients and their attendants in the five-storey building at Resham Ghar, Jammu. There is only one water cooler installed and that too at ground floor of the hospital and attendants have to come down from upper floors to get a bottle of water for patients. During construction of the building, space for water coolers had been kept but the hospital authorities have failed to install coolers. "We have to climb down 78 stairs to reach the ground floor and get drinking water," said Savita Sharma, whose relative is admitted in Coronary Cardiac Unit in the SSH. There is also problem of toilets as hospital authorities have locked most of the toilets. For two floors, only one toilet is open, which is in bad condition. "The Health Minister Choudhary Lal Singh seems to have forgotten his duties and is only focusing on secondary things. He is concerned only about aprons of the doctors and paramedics," said another attendant. "Where is the Health Minister," said the attendant Irfan Ahmed. "The UPA government had funded the project (SSH) Hospital) and it is responsibility of the BJP-PDP coalition government to maintain it." |
