Why is party, RSS silent over nomenclature of two prime AIR stations in J&K…? | BJP's doublespeak, hollow stand on Art 370 | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 4: BJP's tongue twisting politics on Article 370 is now too widely known. From its die hard approach to go slow tactics, the issue has seen roller coaster rides on the turbulent waters of politics in J&K. Close to its heart and soul of politics, the Article has also exposed BJP's face and its strategy which sounds hollow and doublespeak on many counts. There are many facets in the State itself on which BJP has maintained silence and failed to correct the things even after coming to power. Notwithstanding its understanding with PDP under agenda of alliance to keep the issue under the carpet for some time, Article 370 continues to be the core issue and its removal a key political slogan for both BJP and RSS. Both harp on it occasionally as a rhetoric, knowing well it is a far fetched goal having political, legal and constitutional ramifications. However, despite being in power both at centre as well as in the State, they are unexplainably silent over continuance of a nomenclature with two prime stations of AIR-Radio Kashmir Srinagar and Radio Kashmir Jammu, a terminology which reflects special status of the State with an organization which is controlled by a Central Government organisation called Akashwani. Strangely, while all the stations of AIR across the country are pre fixed with Akashwani before the name of the place and they begin their announcements with Akashwani, the two stations in Srinagar and Jammu are the sole exceptions where the expression is not used. One can understand its necessity and imperatives of using the vocabulary of only Radio Kashmir instead of Akashwani with both the stations way back when these were established. But much water has flowed down the rivers since then and many changes within the organization have paved way for retaining the expression of word Akashwani with new FM stations at the level of districts in the State. One wonders why is this tag still continuing with only the two stations of AIR which are essentially institutions of Central Government. The fact also remains that all other Central Government offices in the State do not carry the tag of State and are having the same institutional nomenclature as in other states. However, the point in question is that BJP which over the decades in role of opposition has been crying hoarse to integrate the State completely with Indian Union on all fronts, why it has maintained silence , not to speak of daring any step to get this changed which doesn't call for any huge step instead letting the use of word Akashwani for the two stations. |
