Timber smuggling bid foiled in Kandiwara forest 9/4/2015 11:57:57 PM Early Times Report Kokernaag, Sept 4: Continuing its drive against timber smuggling, the sleuths of forest department today foiled a timber smuggling bid with the seizure of a truck load of timber in compartment 111 of block Kandiwara of forest range Kokernag. According to sources, the team of Forest Protection Force (FPF) to said forest range and laid a naka on Wednesday at Mohripora Kandiwara near Masjid Shareef Mohripora. "The team intercepted a tractor trolley (without regd no) loaded with Kail round ( dry) timber measuring as Logs = 49.21 fts coming from Kandiwara, sources said and added that driver of the said tractor identified as Zubair Ahmed Bhat s/o Ghulam Nabi Bhat and his accomplice as Mohd Yousef Bhat s/o Mohd Ramzan Bhat both from Kandiwara. "The occupants of tractor have claimed that Regd No of the tractor is JK03-7077, however during questioning the occupants of vehicle managed to give slip to the forest sleuths, sources added. DFO Anantnag Tawheed Deva said that we have attached Forester and suspended the beat forest guards, and are investigating the matter.
