| Scientists of SKUAST visit villages to diagnose paddy crop diseases | | | Early Times Report
RS Pura Sept 22: Scientists from Faculty of Agriculture and Officers of Agriculture Department alongwith team of other experts today conducted joint monitoring visit to different villages of Tehsil R.S.:Pura amidst reports of severe menace to paddy crop of insect-pest related diseases presently endemic in villages viz Kirpind, Rattian, Nandpur, Malikpur Darsopur, Maralia etc. During joint monitoring by the team diseases like Brown Spot, Blast and Sheath blight were diagnosed in paddy crop being cultivated in these villages.
The team provided on spot solutions and suggested appropriate remedial measures to be adopted for the control of various insect-pest diseases in order to prevent any damage to the paddy crop of the farmers. The Scientists accompanying the team exhorted the officers of the Agriculture Department to give wide publicity and launch awareness drive of the suggested remedial measures amongst the farming community in the area for better production and yield of crop.
The officers and farmers were also advised to be in close touch with the Directorate of Extension SKUAST Jammu in the event of any incidence noticed about disease and insect-pest in their respective areas. |
