BJP's 'yes sir attitude' towards Valley leadership hurting Jammu's interests | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 22: The BJP seems to have adopted a 'yes sir attitude' towards Kashmir valley and is not adhering to its role of providing a leadership to the people of Jammu who voted for it wholeheartedly in 2014 Assembly elections. People were expecting a responsive and fearless Jammu voice in the Government after formation of PDP-BJP Government, but every hope has been shattered by the BJP Ministers and MLAs. Be it the case of getting All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for Jammu, imposition of tax on chopper service to Vaishno Devi shrine or the beef ban issue, BJP Ministers have adopted a criminal silence. They are not able to counter the Valley-centric PDP leadership, and in the process Jammu is suffering. Jammuites have never felt so depressed and leaderless as they are feeling these days. If the situation continues to deteriorate, time is not far away when participation of people of Jammu in election process will decline drastically. During 2014 Assembly elections, people of Jammu region, especially Jammu district, had decided to give the BJP a chance to form Government in the state and give people the right, which they have been deprived since independence. While being in opposition, BJP leaders were cursing the Congress party for playing with the emotions of Jammu and surrendering everything to Kashmir valley. The cry of discrimination was everywhere and on the lips of every person. Then came 2014, when in parliamentary elections the Congress party was kicked out for the first time, and later the Assembly elections repeated the Lok Sabha elections results. Now, when BJP is running Governments, both in centre as well as in the state, the people of Jammu have been left to fend for themselves. Rather discrimination has increased manifold. It was during Ghulam Nabi Azad's tenure as Chief Minister when Jammu region started to get its fair share and development was reaching to tail end, but since then things have gone in reverse gear. |
