| D.C.Kishtwar interacts with farmers returned from Horticultural tour | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Sept 21: Dy. Commissioner, Kishtwar, Saugat Biswas held an interaction session with the farmers today in a meeting who had been on three days horticultural tour to Ramban and Kashmir. The purpose of this tour was to provide an opportunity to the farmers of District Kishtwar to get themselves acquainted with the latest different techniques and update their knowledge of walnut processing, canning and breeding of plants. In the meeting, the D.C. was apprised by the farmers that they visited Advance Centre of Rehabilitation (Indo Itallian Olive Project) at Ramban, Walnut Processing Plant at Kulgam followed by Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture in Srinagar and Horticulture Department Nursery at Bejbehara where they interacted with the other professional cultivators of the Valley.
Interacting with the farmers , Dy.Commissioner, advised them to adopt latest methods of fruit cultivation saying that special focus is required in the Agriculture and Horticulture sectors which is the backbone of economy in the District urging upon the concerned officers present in the meeting to prepare projects in consultation with experts in both the sectors for fruit growing areas of Kishtwar belts which are beset with adequate potential and shall be in the large interest of farmers. |
