ERA digs road in Janipur, fails to remove debris | | | Mohd Irfan EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 22: Residents of a locality in Janipura are up in arms against the authorities of Economic and Reconstruction Agency (ERA) for not removing debris after digging up a road there. The residents of Ramzanpura Mohalla near Eidgah road said the digging work started on September 2 and completed by September 5. "We thought that they would remove the debris within days, but it's more than two weeks now and the ERA people have failed to remove the debris," said the residents. They said the rubbish poses threat to the pedestrians and commuters. Taking a dig at the ERA for executing work at a snail's pace and putting people at immense hardships, a local resident Mubeen said, "We find it difficult to live in this locality. The road is not macadamised and now this digging by the ERA has added to our woes. Our MLA is constructing lanes and drains of those localities where influential people live." He said during night, there is every apprehension of an accident due to presence of the debris. The residents threatened to take to streets if ERA fails to lift debris within days. When contacted ERA Director Ravinder Kumar Raina said, "Tell me the location of Ramzanpura and I assure you that the debris would be removed from there." |
