Major bovine smuggling bids foiled, 218 bovine rescued, 10 held | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 22: In a major crackdown against bovine smuggling, the Poonch police today foiled different bovine smuggling bids and claimed to have rescued 218 bovine animals which were being smuggled by smugglers via Mughal road. Police also claimed to have seized 39 small and heavy vehicles besides arrest of 10 smugglers. Police spokesman said that on specific information about a major bovine smuggling bid is going to take place at Mughal road on the intervening night of Monday after which a police team led by SDPO Surankote Raiz Tantray and SHO Surankote and in-charge police post Behramgala raised 15 naka point at different places on the Mughal road. "During the trap police managed to foil major bovine smuggling bids on the road with the arrest of atleast 10 accused and seizure of atleast 39 vehicles in which animals were being smuggled to Kashmir valley without permission from authorities, police spokesperson said. He however added only ten bovine smugglers were arrested on the spot while of them have managed to escape taking advantage of darkness. Meanwhile Police have registered 15 FIRs under FIR no. 197/2015 to 212/2015 u/s 188 and 3/7 Cruelty to Animal Act registered at Police Station Surankote. |
