JAMMU, Oct 16 : Jammu district made a clean sweep winning all the four titles decided today in the inter-district basketball tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here. To stat with Jammu district clinched the under-14 boys' trophy outplaying district Udhampur making it a one-sided contest. As against 30 points secured by Jammu, Udhampur boys failed to open their account. Jatin and Aditya were top scorers with 12 and 10 points in their respective accounts. Thereafter, Jammu girls made clean sweep taking away all the three title trophies of under-14, under-17 and under-17 age groups. In under-14 category, Jammu registered a comprehensive 10-0 against Udhampur. Apra and Swati were main contributors to the team's total with five and four points respectively. Similarly, in under-17 final, Jammu trounced the same opponent in district Udhampur 28-16. Sarabjeet, Tamana and Pearl were main scorers with six and five points respectively. Later, in under-19 girls final, Jammu district defeated their counterparts from district Srinagar 18-04 to make it triple title. Today's finals officiated by the technical penal comprising Vishal Bharti, Sanjay Jamwal, Vaneet, Amit Kalsi, Ravinder Singh, Rajesh Bandral and Mousmi. Prizes were given away to the winners and runners-up teams by Joint Director of DYSS, Madan Lal, who was chief guest. He also interacted with the teams playing the finals and stressed for participation from other districts. |
