Behave or face action, PDP warns Karra | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 16: The People's Democratic Party has issued a stern warning to its Member Parliament Tariq Hamid Karra who has yet again made critical remarks at the functioning of the BJP-PDP coalition government in the state. Karra recently told a national daily that the PDP-BJP alliance has "failed miserably" on all fronts. He even accused the government of allowing RSS to carry out its "anti-Kashmir" agenda. "Karra can't make such statements. He has tried to undermine the authority of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Karra has been doing it consistently, and now he has been given last warning to restrain himself or else stern action would be taken against him," a senior PDP minister, wishing not to be named, told Early Times. Sources said Karra along with another PDP MP Muzaffar Hussain Beigh are sulking after Mufti had decided not to extend the party's alliance in the Centre. "The two MPs, who were former ministers, were hoping to get central berths and have some sort of power. But since PDP did not join the BJP-led NDA in the Centre, they are just as good as opposition MPs without any access to power. This is hurting them most," said the PDP leader. Beigh had also made a critical statement against the alliance when the government was still not formed and negotiations were going on. He was apparently angry after it was reported that BJP-PDP alliance would be limited to the state. "Beigh was told categorically to fall in line or else serious action would be taken. It was after that warning he fell silent but continued to make critical remarks at Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu," said the source. The two MPs are exerting pressure on Mufti when there is talk going on that Mehbooba Mufti would replace her father as the CM. Sources said they are sending signals to Mehbooba also in a manner to undermine her authority and stature in the party. "The PDP has grown as a credible party and many prominent and intelligent people are there in the cadre to replace the sulking leaders. Mufti had made it clear that he will have final say on all important matters and that the PDP-BJP alliance will complete its six year tenure. So no more critical remarks will be entertained from now on," said the source. |
