JAMMU, Oct 16 : Table Tennis tournament started today at KC Sports Club wherein 24 players participated in the first tournament in Table Tennis hosted by KC Sports Club in its multi-purpose sports hall. All the matches were played with extraordinary zeal and turned out to be quite exciting for the participants. In the quarter finals, Karan Nanda beat Anesh Mahajan by 11-3,11-6, Tanish Mehta beat R D Bali by 11-9,8-11,11-7, Nikhil Sharma beat Tushar Gupta by 11-6,11-7 and Pranav Sharma beat Nakul Gupta by 11-4,11-8. In the semi-finals, Nikhil Sharma ousted Tanish Mehta with a slim margin of 12-10, 11-8. Karan Nanda, on the other hand had an easier job to beat Pranav Sharma 14-12, 11-4. For deciding the third position, the match between Tanish and Pranav seemed to be evenly balanced, but eventually Tanish carried the day with a convincing win at 11-5,12-10. The final match between Karan and Nikhil turned out to be a well fought affair extending into 4 games which finally went in favour of Karan at 10-12, 11-7, 11-9 and 11-5. Vishal Ghai who has played Table Tennis for the State of J&K for about 10 times at the national levels was the Chief Guest at the concluding ceremony of the tournament. He gave away the prizes to the winners and congratulated them for their success. |
