Police trying to shield accused in court firing, allege Sikh organisations | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 16: Expressing concern over the alleged dubious police role in the October 6 district court complex firing, six Sikh organisations today alleged that police were trying to shield the real culprits involved in the incident. In a joint press conference addressed here today by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Gurdev Singh and attended by the office bearers of Akali Dal (Maan), Akali Dal (Badal), Sikh Intellectual, Sikh Students Federation and Jammu District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, police were condemned for their alleged inaction against the real culprits of the October 6 broad daylight shootout outside the district court complex here. Gurdev alleged that the murderous attack was carried out by the accused on Ranjodh Singh alias Nalwa but he survived miraculously. He said as per the case FIR, Surinder Singh alias Kala and his accomplices - Davinder Singh alias Bunty, Jasvinder Singh alias Chotu and some other persons - had attacked Nalwa with deadly weapons to eliminate him. It was disheartening to know that police had not arrested Kala and other main accused till date, he alleged. The SAD president alleged that instead of proceeding against the accused under the law of the land, a misinformation campaign had been launched to mislead the administration and general public and shield the real culprits who were roaming freely despite their involvement in the shootout. "The public conscience and faith in police has been shaken badly due to the incident. To restore the public faith, it is demanded that the culprit who attempted to eliminate Nalwa be arrested without any further delay," Gurdev demanded. The Sikh organisations also demanded a high level probe into the core issue of the dispute which, according to them, are two shops bearing Nos 217 and 50 at fruit and vegetable complex, Narwal. They alleged that the two shops "stand clandestinely transferred in the name of Kala and Bunty even when Nalwa had an equal share in them. Gurdev demanded immediate arrest of the accused. |
