| KVK Rajouri organizes training prog on bee keeping | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, Oct 16:Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajouri under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Jammu organized a day long training programme on bee keeping for UG students of Government PG Degree College Rajouri.
The training -cum -demonstration was attended by more than 100 students of zoology stream of the college. Prof Mangat Ram Sharma, Head, Department of Zoology of the college organized this visit of students and was accompanied by Prof. Raheela, Prof. Harsh Vardhan and Prof Shahid Mehmood of the college.
Dr Arvind Kumar Ishar, Scientist (Entomology) of KVK, Rajouri gave a detailed information on the vocation of bee keeping and demonstrated the scientific methods of maintaining a good apiary.
Interacting with the students, Dr Ishar informed the students that this venture can be started by school and college going students as it does not demand much time or extra land. He informed that students that they can start their apiaries at a marginal cost and can generate enough money which can not only support the expenses of their studies but also their other needs.
Responding to the queries raised by students, Dr Ishar informed that except a few problems of mites and wasps, it is very easy to run a apiary and KVK can provide the necessary training, free of cost, for starting a bee keeping unit to the interested students. He also informed them that KVK is also providing vocational training on Mushroom Cultivation and students can avail this facility also. |
