Former MLC Subash visits to border hamlets, criticizes Govt policies | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kathua, Oct 16: Alleging state government agricultural policies responsible for the hardships of farmers, District Congress Committee President and former MLC Subash Gupta said that present government is considering farmers as if they are closed books. Raising alarm, he said that governments' lackadaisical attitude is compelling farmers to come on roads and it would be better if government meet their demands in time and these words while addressing the media during his visit to border villages on Friday. Subash Gupta made visit to Rajpura, Lala Chak,sheerpur and other adjoining villages. He said that unseasonal heavy rains and hailstorm in the month of April 2015 immensely damaged the standing crops throughout the district adding that the rains damaged wheat as well as other Rabi crops vastly. The recent showers and hailstorm of October 14, 2015 had made a severe blow to farmer community. "The farmers of the district were already facing number of hardships' and now the nature had played cruel joke with them", he added. He assured the farmers of raising their voice at viable platform demanded government of increasing budget of agriculture sector, implementation of crop insurance policy, provide seeds/fertilizers at cheap rates, exempt power bills and boost irrigation facilities. |
