Juthana bridge re-positioning evokes criticism | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Oct. 16: Re-positioning of Juthana bridge that will be constructed at a cost of Rs 46 crore has evoked massive criticism. The people believe due to re-positioning of bridge Minister for Public Works, Flouriculture & Garden openly discarded demands projected by villagers and denied any modification in blue print prepared by panel of expert engineers. They said the bridge is not going to benefit the general public. While responding a question, Bukhari said government does not work under any pressure either political or public but believes in decision taken by panel of expert Engineers for construction of Juthana bridge. Concerned minister ignored public's demand and said panel prepared blue print after through survey and it would not be modified under any pressure. He said re-positioning of bridge occurred to benefit people at large scale and for future road connectivity basis if anyone want to have road at his door step it would not be done at any cost. Earlier, Balbinder Singh Chairman Juthana Panchayat agitated with his supporters and said "99% of Social Forestry Closure will be damaged if JK social Forestry department JKSF acts like spectator. The previous survey recommended road merely 460 mtrs from Dodala -Juthana that would be beneficial for inhabitants and nullify damaged to Forest land." He further alleged that the road has been diverted due to political pressure and for benefits to political workers while ignoring large number of people. The length of new road has also increased into Kilometers. It is pertinent to mention here that Public Work department & Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation JKPCC, a government owned company have rerouted construction work of road/ bridge from Dodala - Juthana at the project cost of 46 crore to Dodala via Forest beat specifically Closure of Social Forestry Mahanal to Doyale that triggered resentment among inhabitants of Juthana. |
