Jammu, Oct 16: Countdown for opening of winter secretariat in Jammu has started and administration is leaving no stone unturned to welcome the guests but government is likely to face embarrassing situation in Jammu, where they will be welcomed by dilapidated roads across city of temples.
The BJP-PDP coalition government is slated to start functioning from Jammu in the first week of November and the convoys of Ministers' and bureaucrats' are likely to measure city roads but the city roads are not less than a nightmare for the vehicle owners.
The repeated appeals and protests by Jammuities against PWD, R&B, JMC and ERA for early repairing and blacktopping the roads in the city, has failed to made any difference in the attitude of concerned department, which instead of repairing the roads, is busy to dig up more and more roads, creating chaos on roads and hardships for commuters.
A daily commuter, Satish Sharma said that the callous approach of the Public Works Department and their construction agency could be gauged from the fact that the department has been busy to dig all the adjoining road which connect offices but not single road have completely repaired so far.
"Owing to incomplete construction work, we are facing long queue traffic chaos near Gandhi Nagar College, going from Panama Chowk to Fruit market Narwal, Jewel chowk, or at most busy road canal road", he said.
Anguished over unplanned construction works of the department concerned he said, "I am residing in Bishnah area, working at Division Commission Office, Panama Chowk , one day I contemplated to reach office going towards Kunjwani by pass road. Surprisingly a jam held me for an hour nearly in Greater Kailash at railway crossing and then after Transport Nagar, Narwal."
Castigating the coalition partner, BJP, another commuter said that always criticizing the Kashmir centric political parties (PDP, BJP) even Congress, the BJP has left no stone unturned to make lives hell of Jammuities, adding
"It shows that all the Jammu based political parties only have one agenda to exploit the emotions of Jammuities but after getting power they forget the discrimination issues with Jammu and enjoying power share with Kashmir leadership", he said.
Trader of Warehouse, Tarsem Gupta said that nearly since one years, the construction agency ERA has made flyover from Bikram Chowk to Gandhi Nagar Women College, the deadline has been completed and no body may guess when the construction work will be completed.
"Owing to the traffic diversion by warehouse, pressure horn during traffic chaos and slow pace of work has been disturbing the business since long time", he said. |
