Jammu, Oct 16: The Jammu Students Morcha (JSM) has flayed the Vice Chancellor of Jammu University for not taking action against the activists of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) who created rumpus and lawlessness in the University
While holding protest and raising slogans against the Vice Chancellor, JSM President Vikram Kumar said that the drama which the university authorities enacted recently by refusing permission to the ABVP students to hold their event in the premises of the university led to the sudden closure of the university. He disclosed that the university had granted permission to the ABVP guests in the University guest house who had come all the way round from Delhi to participated in the event.
He also said that VC was willing to grant permission to hold the function in the premises of university, but owning to pressure from the local BJP stalwart, the VC instead of resisting the pressure, agreed to disallow the ABVP to hold the event in the premises of university, which led to a strong resentment before the office of VC in the evening forcing the VC to eat a humble pie and call the police to save himself from the onslaught of the ABVP anger.
He alleged that the VC is in hand in glove with the ABVP as despite lapse of three days, the university Authority has taken no step to bring the trespassers to book who thronged their way into the university breaking the main gate of the university on the date of holding event. Had the VC been honest and sincere in his intention, he would have taken strict action against the ABVP who were hell-bent to denigrate the chair of VC by entering into verbal scuffle with the VC on that evening. He lamented that the VC instead of concentrating on improving the academic standard of the university, is playing politics and dancing to the tone of politicians just to save his chair which he does not deserve.
He further said that eversince Prof Ramji Dass Sharma has occupied the chair of VC, he has been functioning on the strength of negativity on all the front. Quoting one example, they stated that due to non-cooperative and anti-academic attitude of the VC, the functioning of the DDE has been put to jeopardy by not providing them the requisite numbers of contractual faculty and the logistic support to run the undergraduate courses with the tacit intention to weaken the Director DDE thereby paving way for his replacement by his own blue eyed person. He upon the Chancellor and Pro-chancellor to personally intervene and look into the whole gamut of sorry state of affairs created by the wrong and vindictive policies of the present VC.The JSM demanded immediate sacking of the Vice Chancellor and stern action against the ABVP activists who are vitiating the atmosphere of the campus. |
