Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 2: Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Jammu centre today celebrated its 62nd foundation day in a function organised in collaboration with Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu. Prof Vivek K Gupta was the chief guest while Maj Gen (Retd) S K Sharma, Principal MIET, attended the occasion as guest of honour. The foundation occasion was held on the theme "Role of IETE in Digital India" in which besides keynote speakers, the members of host organization also spoke on the various aspects of theme subject. The chief guest Prof Vivek Gupta, Head Deparment of Physics and Electronics JU appreciated the efforts of the IETE Jammu team in promoting such academic activities and further suggested to organize such activities in future also in collaboration with IETE. The guest of honour Maj Gen (Retd) S K Sharma delivered a key note talk on "Latest Trends in Emerging Electronics" and spokes on many useful technologies with special focus on Robotics and sensors. Earlier Dr Rakesh Vaid, Chairman, IETE Jammu Centre presented welcome address and introduced the topic and threw light on the concept of theme. He said the Digital India concept includes various schemes worth over 1 lakh crore like Digital locker in which all citizens can digitally store their important documents. Dr Parveen Lehana, Hony Secretary of the IETE Jammu centre read the message received from the President IETE, New Delhi, Smriti Dagur on the same theme and also presented the vote of thanks. Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Renu Rajput, a PhD scholar in the department. Prominent among those present were Dr Susheel Sharma, Dr Suresh Rao, Dr Rockey Gupta, Dr Radhika Khanna, Prof Romilla Malla Bhat, Dr Sandeep Arya, Jang Bhadur, Ms shni Gupta besides many student members of IETE, research scholars and students. |
