Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 2: An eight day interdisciplinary Model Training Course (MTC) on "Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Applications" started at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (SKUAST)of Jammu in the division of Agricultural Extension Education, main campus, Chatha. Dr Pradeep K Sharma, Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu, while interacting with the delegates stressed on the need of ICT in present scenario of extension system as the ratio between the extension workers and the farmers is very wide and, as such the ICT tools available with the farming community should be used to bridge this gap. The training programme has been sponsored by the Directorate of Extension, Ministry of Agriculture and farmers' welfare, Govt. of India. A total number of 21 delegates from the state line departments of Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir are participating in the training programme. The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr K. S. Risam, Director Extension, SKUAST Jammu, Dr. R. M. Bhagat, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST Jammu and Dr Rakesh Nanda, Course instructor of the MTC. |
