JYF protests against JU authorities | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov. 22: The Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) today protested against University Authorities demanding from the Chancellor of the University to take suo motto cognizance of the matter and ask from the Vice Chancellor to initiate process for pre-mature retirement of redundant Professors of DDE, who do not do any except hatching conspiracies against DDE administration to appease University boss. Addressing a gathering here today, JYF University President Deepak Kumar said, that the functioning of the DDE has been put to jeopardy by not providing them the requisite numbers of contractual faculty and the logistic support to run the undergraduate courses with the tacit intention to weaken the Director DDE. because of Sr .Professors of DDE are not taking the undergraduate students classes. He also said that the University authorities for their failure to conduct the interviews for the several teaching positions (compulsory PCP Classes ) in DDE owing to which students were suffering badly as they were going for practical in different colleges but the inconvenience to the students could have been avoided through the contractual appointments of the teachers. "The University has taken over a sum of rupees one crore from DDE Fund which has been accumulated for the welfare of the DDE students but they are being denied services which is unjust," he questioned. He added that staff has been appointed for Women Study Centre where there was no work but when it came to DDE, the University authorities cited 'no requirement'. "It is a shame on the part of JU Vice Chancellor Prof R D Sharma who have given patronage to a good number of DDE Sr. Professors who are drawing hefty salaries and that too without doing any work. They are teaching just 15 classes per year under Personal Contact Programme and pulling out huge amount every month. It exposed the claims of accountability and transparency in the University functioning", he alleged. He demanded that audit be done in DDE to check out the utility and services rendered by the senior professors as UGC guidelines clearly state that at least 16 hours of teaching work should be done by the teachers in addition to one hour of research work but, in DDE all the teachers were violating this norm hence audit was required to ascertain the fact. |
