Worry grips within committed cadre 'nepotism' to repeat again….! | Countdown begins for BJP's 'new' State President | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 22: As the countdown for election of new state president of BJP has begun, the buzz woven around element of curiosity goes round the party echelon as to whether nepotism would be the thumb rule, new comers would grab the coveted post , or the leadership would give weightage to its committed cadre and old timers this time. The lobbying , meanwhile is learnt to be at its peak for both the president's post as well the new team to be formed for the state unit of the party. Sources said new worry has gripped the senior leaders and the committed cadre of BJP that the central leadership may commit the same mistakes and blunders which it has been indulging in post government formation in taking fresh faces and new entrants from different parties on board vis-à-vis key posts and assignments in the political structure of the state. The apprehension is that they would be sidelined yet again and those having strong link with a couple of central leaders and ministers would make it in managing prestigious positions in the new body. This feeling is being reinforced the way lobbying is going on at various quarters, sources said, adding that this trend is only demoralizing the rightful and deserving ones who toiled for the hard earned victory of the party. Sources also said the even though the party would boast and take pride until recently in saying that BJP's inner democracy is stronger than any other party, the scene has reversed post government formation both in Centre as well in J&K State. The mindset of the central leadership has undergone drastic change, said the sources, adding that for various reasons they are giving preference to new entrants in the party. This is manifest in the decisions they have taken in recent months in ignoring the committed cadre and taking aboard very lesser known names, some of whom have quite dubious credentials. There a couple of leaders at present who joined state BJP ahead of Assembly elections and despite FIRs and cases having been registered against them, they have managed key posts within no time, said the sources. However, this tendency and leaning towards new faces and ignoring the committed cadre is bound to repulse and cost party heavily as was reflected in the Bihar Assembly elections, sources said as being the buzz word through the length and breadth of the party ahead of getting new state president and the new body. Some ministers are trying hard to get their 'own people' accommodated in the new body in the same manner they did it at the time of political appointments, sources said a senior minister of the party as well as the incumbent state president has already got two of their close relatives get the coveted posts in the BJP's share in alliance government. |
