Anti-Jammu meet in Srinagar on Nov 28 | Dangerous game | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 22: Independent MLA from Langate (Kashmir) and president of Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) Er Rasheed, who on Fridaycondemned the "mainstream" and separatist leadership of Kashmir for not organizing hartal or bandh in support of his demand for establishment of IIT and IIM in Kashmir, on Saturday took another step to arouse anti-Jammu passions in the Valley on the same issue. He declared that he will hold all-party conference on November 28 in Srinagar to "persuade Central Government for establishing IIT, IIM and IIMC in Kashmir". Actually, he addressed media persons at a hotel in Srinagar and said that "we are not against establishing any institution in Jammu province but it should not be done at the cost of interests of Kashmir and while establishing IIT, IIM and AIIMS in Jammu province the interests of Pirpanchal (Pir Panjal) and Chenab regions should not be ignored as usual". "People of Chenab and Pirpanchal (Pir Panjal) regions have been always deprived and ignored and government must establish one of these three institutions each in Jammu, Chenab and Pirpanchal (Pir Panjal) regions," he further said. He also used the opportunity to condemn the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre for denying to Kashmir from IIT and IIM and made a fervent appeal to all the Kashmir-based political, social, trade, and other organizations to "form a joint strategy to force New Delhi to establish IIT, IIM and IIMC in Kashmir". "We are sending invitations to all political parties besides, Valley based MPs, civil society, trade organizations, bar association and other organizations to attend an all Parties meet in Srinagar next week on November 28 to evolve a consensus as how to force Central Government to establish these prestigious institutions in Kashmir," he was quoted as saying. Perverted and seditionist Rasheed crossed all the lines when he said that Jammu will get AIIMS, IIT and IIM at the cost of Kashmir. The people of Jammu province got what they legitimately deserved. As for Kashmir, it already has a number of prestigious institutions, which have become the sole preserve of Kashmiris, as the Jammu and Ladakh youth are hardly found in these institutions. Contrarily, the Kashmiri youth are in full strength in the Jammu-based technical and professional institutions, besides universities. The people of Jammu province are the most neglected lot and it was for the first time IIT and IIM were granted to Jammu province by the Union Government on its own. Rasheed not only indicated his hatred for Jammu province by claiming that the Government of India sacrificed the interests of Kashmir by deciding to set up AIIMS, IIT and IIT in Jammu, but he also committed an unpardonable crime by seeing to divide Jammu province into three zones - Plains of Jammu, Chenab Valley region and Pir Panjal region. There exist no such regions in Jammu province as Chenab Valley region and Pir Panjal region. Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Poonch and parts of Rajouri district are located in one mountain range, called Pir Panjal mountain range. Rasheed, in effect, exploited the PDP-BJP agenda of alliance to create schism in the Jammu's liberal and all-accommodating society. It is the agenda of alliance that has created the whole problem. The fact of the matter is that the agenda of alliance and Kashmiri leaders of all hues are not only opposed to the demand in Jammu province for empowerment, but they also want to de-link those areas of Jammu province from the region where the Muslims are slightly more than the Hindus. They will not succeed in their evil game plan, as the people of Jammu province, Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs included, are determined to preserve the unity and integrity of their region at whatever cost. |
