Man injured in bear attack in Doda | | | Early Times Report DODA, Nov 22: A young man was injured in a bear attack in the Udyanpur area of Doda. Police reports said that a 22 years old, Ranjeet Kumar s/o Kashmir Singh of Chatran village of Udyanpur Doda was seriously injured when a bear attacked him at near his house. The injured was shifted to Sub District Hospital Doda, for treatment. Panic has gripped different areas of Doda after increasing number of attacks by wildlife animals with Wildlife department watching like mute spectators. A large number of wild animals have strayed into residential areas triggering widespread fear among the residents of rural areas of Doda district. "Wildlife department is not taking threats seriously and are taking people for a ride, thus putting the lives of the villagers and live stock at stake," said Mohd Iqbal Balwan President Doda Welfare Society . Local residents residing in upper reaches of Doda which included Saraz, Bhagwah, Bharath, Dessa and other areas said that large number of bears and leopards stray from the adjoining forest range into the villages for search of food. Man-animal conflict rise has been giving sleepless nights to the residents. Local demanded establishment of wild life department control room in Doda. |
