Deptt of Nephrology of SSH organises annual appraisal seminar | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 31: Department of nephrology, super speciality hospital Jammu today organised a annual appraisal and motivational seminar for the staff and residents of dialysis unit, wherein HoD Nephrology, Dr SK Bali gave motivational lecture and appreicated the efforts of the staff and residents of the dialysis unit for caring patients. While speaking on the occasion, Dr Bali said that the staff of the unit has been working tirelessly for the critical patients, suffering from kidney diseases and are admitted in the nephrology unit. "As the patients of renal failure have severe organ dysfunction and in addition have psychological problems due to chronic nature of the disease, thus requiring close monitoring and sympathetic approach of the treating staff," he said and added this department was started in super speciality hospital in the year 2013 and since then it is working day and night in the service of patients. He further said that the department is expanding its infrastructure to provide better service to patients. "With the installation of 20 haemodialysis machines, including 7 sled machines in the department the quality of services has been improved a lot," he said and added the department is looking forward to add more infrastructure to it. He said that a separate APD unit for indoor patients was also established in the department, which is first of its kind in the North India. "Kidney transplant has yet to start, but efforts are on to start this facility with the cooperation of urology department and principal GMC and higher authorities," he said. Giving details about the functioning of the department, Dr Surinder Singh Sodhi said that total of 826 haemodialysis and 11CAPD were done in 2013, which raised to 3549 haemodialysis and 29 CAPD in 2014 and this year 4209 Haemodialysis and 35 CAPD were done. He added that the dialysis department caters to OPD and 3323 patients were registered in 2014 and 4437 patients were registered in 2015. "Kidney biopsy was performed in 27 cases in 2014, which escalated to 51 cases in 2015," he said. In the end staff and residents were felicitated by Head of the department. They were rewarded with souvenirs. The staff and residents in a single voice thanked head of the department for steering the department in the right direction. |
