'Nomenclatures insignificant as JK is India's integral part' | | | Early Times Report jammu, Dec 31: The independent MLA with separatist leanings, Er Abdul Rashid Sheikh, who has developed a habit of poking his nose into everything, submitting a bill in the Legislative Assembly to seek discussion on changing the nomenclature of Governor and Chief Minister into Sadar-e-Riyasat and Wazir-e-Azam has drawn flak as critics believe that his only job is to "create confusion." A critic while talking to Early Times said, "Rashid should worry about his constituency (Langate) rather than meddling into the affairs which don't fall in his domain. Someone should ask him has he ever sought a discussion in the Assembly over problems faced by the people living in frontier areas. Rashid's track record has been controversial he has always tried to rake up the issues which can foment trouble or are aimed at challenging JK's accession with India." The critic said, "Just a few months before Rashid wanted to eat beef and he created hue and cry over it in the Assembly. He didn't care about the sentiments of his Hindu political colleagues and hosted a beef party at MLA hostel in Srinagar." "He (Rashid) is the one who wanted to hold discussion in the Assembly over Afzal Guru. He seems totally unhappy with the set up. If he is so unhappy and annoyed he should prove it by surrendering his salary and the other privileges which he enjoys as a MLA and the best thing for him would be to migrate to a country which endorses his view point," the critic added. An analyst said, "Rashid' is a hypocrite. We should not take him seriously. He has lost his credibility by staging dramas. Everyone knows that he keeps on making noise for just being in the news and create confusion. People like him should be barred from contesting elections. Every legislator has to take an oath before entering into the Assembly and has to ensure that he safeguards the sanctity of the constitution. People who keep on challenging the constitution and don't have faith in Indian democracy should be shown the exit door. It's unfortunate that people like Rashid despite swearing by Indian constitution leave no stone unturned to indulge in anti-national activities." A politician said, "Rashid is a non-entity. Unfortunately he has started believing that he has become a pan-Kashmir leader. Someone needs to remind him that he is just a MLA who represents one constituency. He (Rashid) should have been taken to the task when he tried to polarize the environment by hosting a beef party. Had Police registered an FIR and dealt with him as per the law of the land it may have made a huge difference." Another leader said, "People like Rashid making noise over Sadar-e-Riyasat and Wazir-e-Azam cannot change the ground reality that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and it would remain so with or without people like Rashid and others who preach secessionism. |
