| Two extortionists posing militants arrested in Qazigund | | | Early Times Report
kulgam, Dec 31: Kulgam police on Thursday arrested two extortionists in Qazigund area of the district on a doctor's complaint.
According to reports, extortionists posing Hizb-ul-Mujahdeen militants harassed the family of doctor and extorted a sum of rupees 32,000 from his sister and brother -in-law.
Duo, were arrested on the doctor's written complaint and role of local army trooper is being ascertained, police said while confirming the incident.
Dr Bilal Ahmad Beg, resident of Khrewan Lasipora told media that on 27th of this month (Sunday) late evening two gunmen barged into his house and demanded money from his sister and brother-in-law in his absence.
"I wasn't at home at that time when gunmen bragged into my house but my sister narrated the incident to me once I returned. They (extortionists) have harassed my family and extorted Rs 32,000 from my sister," Dr Bilal said. He said that gunmen ransacked his belongings and told my sister, who is also working in health that militant outfit has deputed them to collect money from affluent people. "Due to fear my sister handed over them Rs 32, 000," he added. Dr Bilal said that story got the twist when next morning one of the extortionist visited Emergency Hospital Qazigund, where my sister is posted.
"My sister recognized his face and confirmed his name and residence from her colleagues, fallowing which we contacted police" Bilal said.
A police official confirming the incident said that police at initial stage nabbed the extortionist who visited hospital. He was identified as Muzafar Ahmed Bhat a resident of Nasu Bhadragund Qazigund. Bhat in police custody identified his associate as Nisar Ahmed Bhat who was also later arrested.
Sources said that police has also raided the residence of Muhammad Yousuf Teli who works in Army's Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Division (JAKLI) and is posted at 19 RR's Larkipora Anantnag camp.
Muhammad Yousuf Teli according to Dr Bilal arrived at his home along with some of his family members and confessed that extortionists used his service rifle in the crime.
Police official on the conditions of anonymity told that an FIR vide number 303/2015 under section 452, 386 has been registered in this regard investigation is going on. |
