| GGF organizes peace talk event | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 31: Gandhi Global Family today organized peace talk event here at Lawrence Public school, Mubarak Mandi, Jammu.
According to press release, the aim of organising peace talk event to enlightening students about global peace. The event began with an enthralling cultural performance from the children of the school was followed by New Year resolutions made by GGF which primarily included working even harder towards promotion and propagation of ideals of Mahatma Gandhi at both state and national levels.
Chief Guest, Padmashri S. P. Varma, GGF Vice President, in his address highlighted that "the ideals of peace and non-violence, hitherto cornered in our minds, have taken unprecedented importance considering the exponential rise of extremism and fanaticism across the world. Radicalization in the name of religion and exploitation of malleable mind of children has become the objective of fanatics, thriving in all the countries capitalizing upon communal fault lines." He illustrated it with the quick examples of Paris attacks and Syrian crisis.
GGF had been active throughout the past year, organizing awareness, cultural and sports events, the highlight being the Gandhi Mandela Cricket Tournament organized in the state of J&K which specifically focused upon the orphan children and Symposium on Truth and Non Violence across the State.
GGF pledged to work more with the support of volunteers thereby providing a recognized platform to the youngsters to bring out their latent capabilities, specifically leadership and organizational skills and hone their personality. |
