Govt formation after 40th fateha Khawani of Mufti | | | Javaid Naikoo
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 25: PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti and Tasaduq Mufti busy in mulling over pros and cons of sharing Party President and Chief Ministerial Portfolios among party leaders are likely to announce decision about government formation after '40th' Fateha-Khawani of former Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. If highly placed PDP sources are to be believed, Mehbooba Mufti is all set to announce her decision about government formation only after '40th' customary Fateha-Khawani of former Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed as any step regarding government formation before '40th' Fateha-Khawani goes against the very tradition of Kashmir. Sources said that like in most of Kashmiri families routine activities come to stand still up to 40 days after the demise of head of a family, Mufti family will also take its time of 40 days and only after that period will go for government formation once again with its unique choice, BJP. "Politics aside, Mehbooba and her family are in grief, they are part and parcel of this society, they know traditions and customs like we all know, so why should we expect them to forget tradition and period of grief they are going through and announce government formation before 40th Fateha-Khawani of Mufti Sahab, How is it justified to force Mehbooba Mufti by one way or the other." One senior PDP leader told Early Times Tasaduq Mufti, only son of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed after expressing his willingness to stay in Kashmir to join Politics formally in an interview with a national Daily paper today according to sources is busy contemplating pros and cons with Mehbooba Mufti about sharing two important portfolios of 'Party president and Chief Ministerial rank' within party leadership. Sources said that Mehbooba and Tasaduq are framing a schedule to handle portfolio of Chief Minister with them for now and share party president portfolio with any other leader for temporary period of time. They said both are weaving a strategy for future times to come to keep both Chief Minister and party president options within Mufti family only like most of such families do across the country. Pertinently Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed died on January 7 on Thursday morning after he was flown to AIIMS on December 24 and later shifted to the ICU in a critical state. The 79-year-old leader who founded PDP had been admitted to the premier hospital in Delhi with complaints of severe fever and chest pain. Sayeed was suffering from a non-specific systemic infection, with the exact cause of the infection not being known and according to reports he had a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a progressive lung disease. His treatment was being closely monitored by a team of experts comprising doctors from several departments at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Pertinently even before Mufti Muhammad Sayeed fell ill he intended to hand over power to his daughter Mehbooba Mufti after completing one year in office on March 1, 2016. |
