All security arrangements in place for Republic Day functions: DGP | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 25: Stating that elaborate security arrangements were in place for the Republic day celebrations across the state, DGP K Rajendra today said that police would ensure smooth conduct of all these functions. "All security arrangements are in place to ensure smooth passage of all the official functions across Kashmir on R-Day eve. There is a three-tier security arrangement to prevent any untoward incident," DGP told Early Times. He said a comprehensive security grid and deployment mechanism for conduct of peaceful celebrations had been formulated. "We will ensure that no untoward incident takes place anywhere Tuesday. Mobile escorts besides additional security personnel are being deployed in vulnerable areas to keep a watch and deal with any emergency" he added. Sources said that the measures taken by security forces include drop gates, electronic access control equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles, drones and closed circuit televisions around sensitive installations in both the cities. It is to mention here that the Jammu and Kashmir is going to witness R-Day parade without the chief minister for the second time since last January. The State was under Governor's rule in last January as well, following the delay in negotiations between PDP and BJP leaders over government formation. This time around, situation is almost similar as the state is once again under Governor's rule due to the death of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. |
