SVC directive to SVO in alleged bunglings in I&FC Deptt | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 25: In a case of alleged bunglings in I&FC department, the state vigilance commission headed by Kuldeep Khooda has directed the state vigilance organization (SVO) for initiation of preliminary enquiry. Taking cognizance of the alleged large scale bunglings and misappropriation of funds by the officials of Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department, Kishtwar, SVC directed SVO for registration of preliminary enquiry in the matter. A complaint was lodged by the inhabitants of Tagood near Bungam in Mugalmaidan area of Kishtwar through village sarpanch Sewa Ram, alleging therein that the I&FC department officials had indulged in misappropriation of funds, embezzlements and other gross irregularities in the execution of construction work of 5 km canal from Dunwar to Tagood and the use of sub-standard material. It was also alleged that a huge amount had been drawn dishonestly by some contractors in connivance with the officials of I&FC department. SVC summoned the complainant and heard him. The complainant produced documents and made certain assertions before the commission which prima-facie disclosed that the officials of I&FC department had not only misused the government funds meant for construction of the Canal but had also inflicted huge loss to the state exchequer. Looking into the gravity of the allegations, SVC directed SVO for the registration of preliminary enquiry in the matter. --(JNF) |
