PDP's delay in Govt formation pushes JK into crisis | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 25: The lukewarm response shown by the People's Democratic party (PDP) to form Government after the death of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on 7th of this month has put the State of J&K into political crisis with people facing many hardships in seeking redressal of their day to day problems. National Conference which is the main opposition party in the State has already voiced its concern over the delay in Government formation in the State and the Party patriarch and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah made it clear that the formation of a democratic Government was must to settle the problems confronted by the people of the State. Not only Dr Abdullah, but PRP chief Mir Ghulam Rasool had also voiced his concern over the delay in Government formation and opposed the imposition of Governor's rule in the State. He appealed the PDP to take a quick decision regarding formation of next Government in the State as people have been put to many hardships since the imposition of Governor's rule as bureaucracy does not pay so keen interest to their problems as public representatives can pay. Senior Gujjar leader Shamsher Haqla Poonchi has also shown his concern over the delay in Government formation in the State and said the people of far-flung and remote areas have been put to many hardships in the absence of a popular Government. By delaying the decision in Government formation PDP is giving the ground to its opponents who are watching the political developments keenly and don't want to lose the opportunity if provided to them at this juncture. Every political party sitting in opposition will do like that as holding of fresh elections in the trouble torn State after one year is not possible also. Moreover the political Pundits are of the opinion what guarantee can be there that there will not be a fractured verdict after the next elections also and no party will be able to get a clear mandate. This way the political parties have again to look for coalition, sources added. Sources said by reviewing the decision of alliance with BJP-PDP leadership is negating what their leader and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has done. Mufti who was considered a very seasoned politician in country and who had earned much fame during the time of Indira Gandhi as a matured and towering leader of Congress in J&K who took to NC head on during eighties would have taken the decision after giving a full thought to its all pros and cons. |
