PDP leadership favours early Govt formation, asks Mehbooba not to delay decision | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 31 : The PDP leadership is under constant pressure of government formation in the State and barring a few leaders including block presidents entire leadership is for the formation of Government in the State as early as possible. According to party sources some PDP leaders and the workers have given a feed back to Party High Command that any delay in formation of government can prove suicidal for the Party as the NC which is the betenoire of PDP in the State can dent in its strong hold and it will be difficult for the Party to refurbish its image and regain power in case of mid term poll. Sources said though some leaders in the Party have suggested recommendation of dissolution of State Assembly so that the way can be paved for holding of fresh elections in the State, but the majority opposed the same saying such a decision will prove dangerous for the party and give upper hand to NC and Congress. These leaders also made it clear that after the elections Congress will like to ally with NC instead of PDP as the Party had also betrayed the PDP in 2008. Cautioning the PDP leadership they urged him not to go ahead with such a decision as the same may not be in favour of the Party and instead the PDP should start the process of government formation as early as possible. Sources said PDP leadership will also not go for any hasty decision and the Party which has called the Legislature Party meet tomorrow to formally elect Ms Mehbooba Mufti as its leader to form the next government in the State. Meanwhile Mehbooba had also made it clear to party men that she will not delay a second in government formation provided she gets the feedback that the people's interests are intact totally. Sources said while defending the decision of her Father Mufti Mohammed Sayeed in allying with BJP she said, her father was not hesitating in taking the bold decisions. Though there are some critics at present to the decision but at last history will prove him right, she added. The meeting was attended by all legislators and MPs barring Tariq Hamid Karrah, MP who had gone to Dubai to meet his son there. Sources said Mr Karrah had informed the Party about the same. |
