Edu deptt directs teachers to pursue D.E.Ed from banned open schools | ZEO Nagseni deputes 46 untrained teachers for the course | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Kishtwar, Jan 31: Contrary to the government policy that has banned the degrees obtained from open schools or universities or through distance mode and asked the ReTs having such degrees to appear for screening test, the Zonal Education Officer Nagseni in Kishtwar district has asked 46 untrained teachers mostly ReTs, regularized ReTs and EVs having 10+2 qualification to apply for Diploma in Elementary Education Course (D.E.Ed) from National Institute of Open Schooling and has termed the matter to be treated as most urgent. As per the details available with "Early Times", ZEO Nagseni on the directions of Chief Education Officer Kishtwar issued order No. ZEO/N/2015-16/921 dated 29-01-2016 and furnished a list of 46 untrained teachers and deputed them to National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for pursuing D.E.Ed course. "As desired by worthy CEO Kishtwar vide his Notification No. CEO/K/2015-16/25067-131 Dated 20-1-2016 & No. CEO/K/2015-16/25573-82 dated 29-01-2016 regarding Deputation of In-Service 10+2 untrained teachers for D.E.Ed from NIOS, the below mentioned 10+2 untrained teachers (46 in number) of this zone are hereby directed to attend this office today positively in connection with filling up Registration Form with Examination Fee of Rs. 1000/ per candidate" read ZEO Nagseni order. The order also featured the name of a teacher who was appointed by the department 26 years ago. While talking to "Early Times", many ReTs of district Kishtwar informed that after CEO issued the notification all ZEOs of Kishtwar district issued similar orders and added that they are confused whether the degree obtained from Open school would remain valid for them in future as the education department after doing long exercise of verification of degrees of ReTs had asked such ReTs having degrees from distance mode, Open Universities, through study centers and deemed universities to appear for screening test. They said that government on one hand is harassing the ReTs on the name of such degrees while at the same time education department has directed untrained teachers to persuade D.E.Ed Diplomas from Open Schooling. In response to "Early Times" question, a senior government official in education department while accepting the mistake assured that the matter would be looked into. "We will surely look into it and will also bring the matter into the notice of Commissioner Secretary Education" said the government official. It is pertinent to mention that DIET Kishtwar also organized D.E.Ed class with 38 seats, but due to heavy rush of untrained teachers, the education department sought the help of National Institute of Opening Schooling to fill the gap by providing training to untrained teachers of the department, but same has been put under scanner after the government decided to hold screening tests of ReTs having acquired such degrees. |
