SMP expresses shock over handling of Vemula's suicide case | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 3: Expressing shock over the way the central government is dealing with the case of death of Rohith Vemula within the hostel premises of Hyderabad Central University, the Social Movement Party (SMP) alleged that the HRD Minister and Minister of Labour & Employment are involved in the suicide of Vemula. Addressing a press conference here today, the national secretary general Ashok Kumar Basotra lamented that while the suicide committed by Vemula was the result of undue interference of HRD Minister Samriti Irani and Minister of Labour & Employment Bandaru Dattatrey in the Univserity's day to day affairs but they are still enjoying their positions and power as well as trust of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Even the Prime Minister didn't utter a single word for about 22 days who otherwise is very vocal on petty issues. There are thousands of such cases happened after India got independence because the fundamental rights provided to the SCs, STs, OBCs and converted minorities by Baba Saheb Dr B R Ambedker couldn't be digested by the so called upper castes in this country. Basotra alleged that the bureaucracy of India remained always hell bent on to spoil the career of students and future of employees belonging to the aboriginal indigenous Indians. Basotra quoted the examples of Shashi Karnawat and Ramesh Thete, the victimized IAS officers of Madhya Pradesh. He also pointed out the matter pertaining to Umrao Salodia, an IAS officer from Rajasthan who was not promoted to the coveted post of Chief Secretary of the State because of caste prejudice due to which he opted for volunteer retirement in protest and also converted to Islam. He alleged that even the Judiciary, which is one of the three pillars of the government in a democracy, is being used in India by 'Manuwadi' forces as a very effective tool to perpetuate injustice against SCs, STs, OBCs and converted minorities. |
